Severe Weather

What YOU can do for people in this cold weather. 1. Pair up with a friend, 2. Grab some warming stuff (clothes, blankets, hot drinks), 3. Check on people sleeping out, 4. Offer people something that will help them keep the cold out.

With temperatures plummeting in the UK, people have been asking us what they can do to help people experiencing homelessness in this weather.

This is what we do and what you can too:

  1. Pair up with a friend

  2. Grab some warming stuff (Clothes, blankets, hot drinks)

  3. Check on people sleeping out

  4. Offer people something that will help them keep the cold out.

Local authorities should also have SWEP (severe weather emergency protocol) so no one should have to sleep outside in the cold conditions. We have received reports that on occasion this is not being implemented effectively by some councils. Please read here for more information about SWEP and do contact your local authority if you are concerned.
