The Museum mourns the passing of Jimmy Carlson OBE

We are very sorry to announce that Jimmy Carlson OBE has passed away. Jimmy passed away peacefully at home last week. Jimmy was a dedicated and trusted member of our decision making and curatorial group and had recently become an MoH trustee. Jimmy had led a remarkable life before we met him, via our homelessness sector partner, Groundswell, in 2015. Having turned his own life around, Jimmy had dedicated himself to offering that chance to countless others through a huge number of projects over the years.

Since our own very early days, Jimmy has been instrumental in the development of the Museum of Homelessness; a champion, a wise counsel and a dear friend. This is a devastating loss for us and for the many others who knew and loved him.

Jimmy believed passionately in the Museum of Homelessness. It was a privilege to work with Jimmy; an expert with a huge heart, never afraid to speak his mind on behalf of homeless people and justice. Although Jimmy is no longer with us, the Museum of Homelessness will always remember him through our work, asking the questions that matter and providing opportunities for homeless people.

RIP Jimmy Carlson OBE.
