What is it?

MoH teamed up with the Old Diorama Arts Centre to host a small workshop on 26 May, between 11am and 3pm hosted by Paul Tourle, a UCL PhD candidate specialising in sound, Noise, Cultural Heritage, Everyday Life. He’s previously worked with Shelter from the Storm and Cardboard Citizens.

What is it all about?

Every sound has a history of its own: from the sound of a drum to the rumbling of heavy traffic. Sometimes those sounds can tell us things our eyes miss. What are the sounds of homelessness? Crowds standing together protesting? politicians making promises on the news? Or is it all too often, the sound of silence?

Noise Matters was a workshop that invited visitors to think about the past, present, and future of housing and homelessness by paying close attention to the sounds of everyday life.

The event also involved creating a mini-sound archive.

Where was it?

The event was hosted with long time friends and partners the Old Diorama Arts Centre – Regent’s Place, 201 Drummond St, Kings Cross, London NW1 3FE.
