Shock to the System - A special event

Shock to the System

Shock to the System – 13 October, 3pm – 6pm

To mark World Homeless Day and Homeless Sunday in Islington, Streets Kitchen has organised a special event at the Union Chapel, which will bring together a wide range of partners to showcase how the community in Islington came together last winter to support people who were sleeping rough.

Museum of Homelessness will be bringing some of our special object stories to be performed and shared with visitors. These objects were given to MoH with a real-life stories that say something about the crisis we see today. If you’ve not heard them before, you can hear a selection of the object stories here.

The day will also include panel talks with a range of speakers and a film premiere of the short film Changed Times. There will also be an opportunity to find out about the work of local homeless charities working in Islington, including the Margins Project, based at the Union chapel which offers a day centre and social enterprise, which offers training & employment to people experiencing homelessness.

There will be a range of agencies on the day – if you looking to find out what’s available or how to get involved – come along.
