Homelessness, death and grief
Remembering with love everyone who dies whilst homeless whilst campaigning for change is a big part of what MoH does.
Ever since we began the museum ten years ago we knew it would be a central part of our work.
We now have a team dedicated to this work, Gill Taylor and James Vale who do a beautiful job of the fine balance of honouring people's memories whilst pushing for change.
As we move from Summer into Autumn we enter our season of remembrance where this work intensifies.
This week we welcomed the Collectif Les Mort de la Rue to the museum, who do the same work in Paris. Solidarity.
We also worked on our memorial banner as part of hashtag#Streetsfest in The Breathing Room.
We checked thousands of records ready for this year's national memorial upload.
We worked with colleagues at Housing Justice and St Martin-in-the-Fields to begin preparation for the Service of Commemoration for those who died whilst homeless in London.
Jarek performed a tribute to our late friend Stephen Broe on stage at hashtag#Streetsfest.
Homelessness and grief is a complicated and painful thing. Often when friends die the community is not able to attend their funerals or even in some cases informed.
The scale of loss is unbearable. We lose thousands of people to preventable deaths every year.
It's heartbreaking. So together we find ways of expressing the deep sadness and rage.
Our National Vigil held outside Downing Street gives us another space to come together in grief and solidarity.
